y las normas que lo desarrollan y su realización es pertinente.
I saw this and thought that the source had grammatical problems.
It looks like there should be a period after "que lo desarrollan", with "Su realización es pertinente" as a separate sentence.
... y las normas que lo desarrollan. Su realización es pertinente.
This might be one of the 'tricks' that Max mentioned.
Any thoughts on this one?

Actually, I think that the source is perhaps not very well written, but I think it is correct. "El ensayo se plantea siguiendo los requisitos del Real Decreto 223/2004, de 6 de febrero y las normas que lo desarrollan y su realización es pertinente." It follows a string of logic saying that it follows the decree, the established norms in it, and that, therefore, is pertinent. I would be of the opinion of sticking with the source as is. Do you agree ?

I agree that in terms of meaning, there are two different ideas working here:
The regulations that are promulgated to flesh out the Decree
and,
The test itself being merited clinically
But, having said that I don't think it is two sentences necessarily. The whole sentence is about the test, which is found to be both legally correct and clinically valid.

Yeah, I'm okay with that.
It's not a great sentence in the original, but I can see what you mean.
